Los muebles de la casa: la mesa, la cama, la silla, el sofá, la lámpara. Y una habitación más: el baño.

These are the things a room is furnished with — la mesa (table), la cama (bed), la silla (chair), el sofá (sofa), la lámpara (lamp) — plus one more room to add to those of the last lesson: el baño, the bathroom. Learn each word with the little word in front of it: la mesa, el baño. Level 3 explains why some take la and others el; for now it is part of the word.

Para decir el lugar usamos «en»: duermo en la cama, como en la mesa, canto en el baño.

One small word, en, does the work of English in, on and at: duermo en la cama (I sleep in bed), como en la mesa (I eat at the table), canto en el baño (I sing in the bathroom). Take each piece of furniture and pair it with a verb you already know — that single habit turns five nouns into five sentences.

Dos palabras llevan tilde: lámpara y sofá.

Two of today's words carry a written accent, and in opposite places: LÁM-pa-ra is stressed three syllables from the end, so-FÁ on the very last one. The tilde is not decoration — it tells your voice exactly where to lift. Level 8 turns that into a rule you can apply to any word in the language.
